Robert Bird, Prolific Scholar of Russian Literature and Film in UChicago News

Robert Bird, University of Chicago, Professor of Slavic Literature and Languages, and Media and Cinema, husband and collaborator of Christina Kiaer, Associate Professor of Art History passed away on September 7. Bird co-taught a graduate seminar with Kiaer at Northwestern, Art Hist 460, The Aesthetics of Socialist Realism (2012 and 2017) and served on the Ph.D. committees of several Slavic-themed dissertations in Art History.





Gary Saul Morson co-authors op-ed in Los Angeles Times

Gary Saul Morson, the Lawrence B. Dumas Professor of the Arts and Humanities, and Morton Shapiro, the president of Northwestern University, co-authored an op-ed in the Los Angeles Times arguing against the politics of hate and political fundamentalism.
